Labor Day Holiday!

This labor day was a day of labor but the fun kind! Not the professional kind of work but the fix up your house kind of work. We actually had way too much fun at home depot and then would just get back to the house and start doing a million things at once!

Our first big project was to change out all the locks throughout the house! Soooo we thought that would be an easy job...unscrew the handle and screw in the new handle right? no..not in our case. The first doorhandle we tried..unknown to us this doorhandle was actually broken...we didnt figure this out for another 3 hours. We could not get the screw into the new doorhandle! We tried and tried and FINALLY decided to try a different door handle we had bought, it went right in with no problem! In like 5 minutes we had 3 new door handles. We quickly went back to homedepot and they said the original door handle we tried was broken..thank HOME DEPOT. We just thought we were crazy.

Our new front door handle! Jeremy figured it all out..and it looks great!
(Yes our front door is purple haha for the longest time it looked dark brown and we got really close to it the other day and realized its more maroon than it is brown.... haha)

But you can't tell the front door is maroon from here! Just when you get super close!

Our next project was to CLEAN. Now the people that lived in this house were actually very clean BUT didn't clean out the oven or the fridge..not ok. There's just something not right about scraping someone else's goo out of the freezer. Needless to say, it wasn't fun, but definitely worth it after it was done...kind of like it was way worth it after we (Jeremy;) changed out all the toilet lids (thanks dear)

Our really clean oven

When we came out to the house for the first time since it was officially ours we found that the sellers had left all of their patio furniture! Now before you get too excited...the furniture was rusting and a little outdated...but after a trip to home depot this is what they turned into!

A RED lounge chair....i love the red can you tell? (spray paint Rustoleum works wonders!!)

And pretty BLACK iron seating and side table! (the cushions are the originals ones..hopefully to be changed soon) (They were a whitish tan color that rustoleum changed to black!)

So now we can entertain on our patio while we cook out mmmmm!

The sellers also left all of their curtain hardware and curtains! I suppose these people just bought all new things which turned out in our favor!! ....except for one case....

If you remember from previous pics the drapery hardware in the living room was like this...

Its pretty hardware BUT it covers up the beautiful windows!! This is what it looks like after we took down the drapes...

SO much light and pretty
BUT we couldn't get the hardware pieces out of the stinkin wall! They were STUCK! we got the decorative part off but the screws seemed to be in the wall with glue! Finally, with some help from aunts, uncles, and cousins we figured out how to pop off the plates and get the screws off! That was a process...

Jeremy was so good and patient to get all 36 screws out of the wall...

They are off!! Now we can see into our favorite part of the house...the backyard ;)
We have been taking loads over this weekend from our apartment to our new house..trying to make the actual move next weekend a little easier.... BUT we can't put anything against the walls or on the carpet until they are finished on Thursday...so haha we are stacking everything in the dining room for now because that room is the only one that isn't having something done to it...thank goodness

Oh how I can't wait to unload all these guys...

We were so excited to head over to Uncle Jody and Aunt Jills house for a labor day lunch! They made some delicious brisket and we got to see grandparents, cousins and baby ;)

Little Maren was born only 1 month ago! It was so fun to see her!

Sunday morning Jeremy and I finally made it official and joined the church we have grown to love and the people we have been so thankful for. Hunter's Glen Baptist Church has been a blessing to us in so many ways. Thank you to all the friends that have made the effort to reach out to us and love on us. We have felt like family since the first day we visited and couldn't wait to official call Hunter's Glen our church family.

Getting ready for Jeremy's first day of work tomorrow, we decided to "facetime" our nephews...this is what we were greeted by...haha

Jack eating his toes...guess Jerica doesn't feed him...

And Jacob crying because Jack took his drink away....haha this is how we feel about going back to work tomorrow ;)

PS can't wait until October 2nd for Jack's birthday party at our new house!

Having a day off was a great break and much needed time together!
