June/July

Whew! I'm been slacking on blogging lately!! It has been a little bit of a whirlwind around our house lately. From deadlines at work to knee surgery...we are finally on recovery zone.

Here's whats been happening lately!

3 weeks ago after our anniversary weekend, the puppies had to get spayed ;( I'll be honest, i was very nervous and protective. They did great though! I dont even know if they knew anything had happened! We got home and they were immediately running and jumping all over each other.

they did sleep A LOT though that first day. I even let them sleep on our bed since they were hurt ;)
Sadie didnt have to wear the "cone of shame" because she didnt try to lick her scar so she got to sleep hard!
Sam on the other had....had to wear the cone. ha. she hated it. And they have no peripheral vision so she ran into everything!
But they were back and at it in a few days!
Whitney and Jordan came over and we made no bake cookies mmm! While the boys played playstation ;)
Weve also been getting lots of pool time in on the weekends, lots of relaxing time too!

Sunday afternoon nap time ;)

A few weekends ago Amanda and Tim came over for homemade ice cream!! It was our first time to try out the ice cream maker since we got it for our wedding! It turned out great! We made cookies and cream mmmm!!
A couple of Sunday's ago, it was our turn to bring breakfast with another couple from our small group for our Sunday school class! So I made coffee cake with my good friend Cassie's recipe!! It was delicious!
Its getting to be about haircut time around here ;) see the later pictures for that!
So the real reason I've been blog slacking...I had a big deadline that went out last friday at work. I have been working on a project in China! It is a residence, which is different and fun because our firm primarily does hotels and resorts, so this was something new to do! This is a 5 story residence for one man in Hong Kong. I put together a schematic design presentation that our principal then left to go to China and present. This included all 5 floors with drawn floor plans and options, all floor plans rendered. Furniture layouts and selections, fabric and finish selections, concept images as well as building sections and 3-d models and renderings.

Somehow, you can work really hard in advance to prepare, but there are always last minute things that keep you late.
I worked until 9 pm one night, after being there since 6:45 am and when i left the office, I came outside to this...

A flat tire. This just happened to be the same night that Jeremy was out of town and our small group was having our kick off dinner. First off we were both upset we were missing the dinner, and then I was stuck in uptown and couldn't get home. Thankfully, a few of jeremy's friends that live in uptown helped put a spare tire on my car and i managed to get back to mckinney by 10:30. That week and the previous week combined i worked 122 hours. Needless to say, once that project got out the door on friday, i couldnt wait for the 3 day fourth of july weekend that was ahead!

After a restful Friday night, we went to frisco Saturday morning to see the Olsons! They had come and spent the night at the Westin Stonebriar for a mini vacation!

We got to crash the pool with them!

So finally the dogs got hair cuts! Sam looked just so cute ;)

The fourth of july was so fun! We got to go over for a steak dinner to Whitney and Jordan's house (so delicious!!) and hang out with the Fidas, the Luddekes and the Dials and Ty! It was good to see everyone after several really busy weeks at work for both of us!

After dinner we went and watched the fireworks that the city of mckinney put on!

And then, probably the biggest news of all ;( This has been a long time coming from what the doctor has been saying.

For several months now, Jeremy has been struggling with the same knee that he had ACL surgery on 3 years ago. It had been locking up on him during sport games, and being painful at times. He would mention it from time to time, but he never really gave it too much thought, because it would always correct itself and seem to be fine again for several days or weeks. A one of his softball games recently, something clicked and he came down on it wrong and it locked up for good. After not being able to put any pressure on it, or get it to unlock, and pain, he decided to it was time to call a doctor ;( So 2 weeks ago on Friday, he saw an orthopedic doctor in dallas. They did an MRI and found that he had a torn meniscus and could possibly have a torn ACL (again) but wouldnt know until they got inside he leg to repair the meniscus.

They scheduled a "scope" surgery to go in and fix the meniscus for this past Thursday.

He did very good and the doctor was pleased at how the surgery went BUT, he didn't have a whole lot of great news ;(. The meniscus looked like it had been torn once and then tried to repair itself, and then tore again. So he was unable to repair it, he had to remove 2/3rds of his meniscus, which he seemed to think was ok, and he would be able to do all straight forward types of movements with only 1/3rd left. Also, after getting in there, they found the ACL was torn again ;( They completely removed his ACL from his knee. Since he has already had reconstructive ACL surgery before, they will have to start over from the beginning. While they were inside his knee, they went ahead and put bone grafts in his knee so that when they go to do the ACL surgery, they will have new places to attach the ACL.

And apparently, from his last surgery, he had 2 screws in his knee that he didn't need!! So they gave them to us..nice.

He is recovering pretty well from this surgery! He even put a little pressure on his leg today, but has to keep it elevated at all times otherwise it starts to swell ;/

We took off the gauze for the first time today...a little yuck.

So for now he is eating popsicles and resting!

We were very sad because we are missing our small group's lake day today;( Hope they are having a wonderful time and we will have to do it again soon when we are less crippled ;)!! Miss you guys!

We did have a few visitors for a few hours on Friday! My brother and his friends, one of which I was a camp counselor for 2 years ago!! Good to see yall!!
